The World's Worst Actors Have Come Together In...

the WWE. I have some time to kill so I'm watching WWE Monday Night Raw and I've determined that pro-wrestlers (at least the ones on WWE, maybe the smaller companies have better actors) far surpase porn actors as being the worst actors ever. I realize that certain things can't happen because they could cause severe damage to the opponent (such things as closed fists to the opponents face) but from the moment the wrestler gets ready to throw a "punch", I can tell they're holding back from the movement of the arm. Plus, just when a wrestler addresses a crowd, it's just horrible.

While I'm on the subject of the WWE, I noticed that they have a "WWE Hall of Fame". Now I don't understand how a "sport" that has writers determining everything from the outcome of a match to what moves are done and when, etc. can have a "hall of fame". They might as well call it either the "Horrible Actors Hall of Fame" or the "The Hall of Fame that I got in because I slept with a writer".

    WWE isnt real? :'(
You know you are a doomster when you volunteer for a session at the Samaritans and all the callers kill themselves... including the guy with the wrong number.

That pisses me off when people say that (in a statement, not a question). The WWE is real in the sense that the wrestlers get hurt and they actually pound each other (although some of it is flash and really wouldn't hurt), but it is scripted.

They are the best actors I have seen, because they can actually keep a straight face while acting like complete IDIOTS.

Nevertheless, I watch Smackdown and Raw to eat up time. It is entertaining.

new wrestling sucks. and no, it isn't written or scripted. it's written in the sense that major plot points are given out, but 99% of everything that comes out of a wrestlers mouth is completely improvised. unfortunately, the golden days of great wrestlers is LONG gone. you should read Have a Nice Day by Mick Foley. It's the best book i've ever read.

    Indeed.

Zap is right, although he got his spandex in a knot about it... wrestling is real in the way that they are athlethes performing moves and techniques that they have practiced to gain the effect of realism.

I used to watch it heaps when i was younger. I saw WCW when it came to Australia many years ago and WWE aswell. Perhaps it was called WWF when it came out, I can't recall.

I use to watch wrestling when I was little. I liked it better when they would come out and just wrestle. The only time you had talking is when they did an interview. No talking before a match, you knew who the characters were, even thought some were completely ridiculous.

I loved wrestling in the 5th grade when the Undertaker had the Ministry of Darkness and he would like sacrifice people by basically crucifying them. He was by far my favorite. But then he went all hick and I lost interest completely. A few times I checked to see how Mandkind was doing, but then he retired and I never watched again. I miss the old days.

Mick Foley for life. He was, and always will be the greatest. I never got to read his books unfortunately. He was awesome.

I loved Degeneration X when they first came out. I even have a DX shirt the says "Degeneration X" on the front and "S*ck It" on the back. I wore it to school when I was in junior high and one of the teachers made me turn it inside out because "it was inappropriate".

Now that I'm watching more WWE, I noticed how bad it is starting to suck. First, WWE now includes the WCW and ECW and regular characters on WWE can be seen in either of those two other shows. And it just seems that the characters being developed are over the top on annoying. For example, last night on Monday Night Raw, there was a "team" that does the tag team matches that was based on male cheerleaders.

One thing I do like about pro-wrestling is that it makes for amazing video games. Some of my favorite games are pro-wrestling related.

I also noticed this. ECW is doing a new invasion thing, but it is so obviously stupid. The ECW show is called 'WWE ECW' and DX is on it. Bah, it ruins it for even the 10 year olds!

Smackdown 2 on PS was a fucking magnificent game.

The only platforms I've played wrestling games on were NES, Sega Genesis, and N64. There were a few good games for Genesis, but most of them were on N64. It was on the N64 that I first was able to play a wrestling game where you could pick up items and use them against your opponent. I have "WCW Unleashed" (I think that's the game's name) that features Goldberg on the cartridge for N64. It's fun because you can go up the tarmak and into various back rooms and even the parking lot. THQ made a ton of good wrestling games for N64.

    .

wwe is about as real of fighting as a jackie chan movie. or an episode of walker texas ranger. its all staged. yeah they improv some stuff to yell to the fans, and they might even come up with an original move here and there...but its not like anybody in the ring doesnt know who wins, when and how. the blood is from cuts they slice into their heads before the match starts and there is a recomended way to absorb every blow and make it look "real" to most rednecks.

at the beginning of the season, all matches including championships are scheduled and the winners detrmined.

For the most part, WWE blows in some aspects. If you don't already know about it, there's a brand of wrestling called Total Nonstop Action wrestling, or TNA for short. It's actually better than anything WWE's put out in recent years. WWE's becoming more like softcore porn than actual wrestling.

It seems that TNA Wrestling is a modern version of WCW. It has a lot of the same characters, Sting, Jeff Jerret and all that. I find it cool that they wrestle in an octogon ring (similar to UFC).

Yes. . . . I do realise that. I don't get why you quoted my post? I was simply stating that they have some athletic ability to be able to perform the theatrics that they do. Just like Jackie Chan and Chuck Norris have martial arts skills to do their stunts.

HAHAHA! you have got a good point there!

I stoped watching it when Foley retired and i know he was back for a while doing a thing with The Nature Boy, and THAT guy needs to get the fuck out of the ring! He needed to retire his boots 10 years ago!
But Foley is great! 'Have a nice day' was amazing! 'Foley is good' wasn't as great but still decent.
Other then that i want to try watching TNA a little more, it seems like it has a lot more potential then WWE now-a-days.

You ought to watch more TNA. There's actually more wrestling in the hour show they have than the two hour shows either of the WWE shows have, and the new ECW brand just blows.

the problem with wrestling nowadays is that ten years ago, we had tons of A list wrestlers to do the main stuff and they had B list stars to fill in the gaps. well, now all of the A list is gone so the B and C lists are doing everything.

and ryukin, 99% of the moves done inside the ring are improv. before a match they might discuss a finisher or something, but it is no different then watching any other type of show, it's just improv. and as improv goes, it either goes great, or BAD.
