    World Series Predictions...

Well, October will be here before we know it. World Series coming up. What are your predictions for the 2 final teams?

I would love to say the Houston Astros will be there again this year, but thats a definate pipe dream this season. The two obvious teams I see are the LA/Anaheim Angels and the Chicago Cubs going at it in the final 7 games, but who knows. There are a few other teams to consider as well.

    American League:

    Tampa Bay Rays
    Boston Red Sox
    Chicago White Sox
and if they can win a wild card slot, my long shot is the Texas Rangers.

    National League:

    Philadelphia Phillies
    NY Mets
and once again, on a wildcard slot, a long shot are the Milwaukee Brewers

I see American League winning the world series this year. The teams are stronger, in my opinion. What's your take?

I can predict that the Diamondbacks will be absolutely terrible and people from Phoenix will only pretend that this baseball sport exists when they don't suck.

Tampa has done really well this year. It wouldn't surprise me if they make it.

I don't think any team will beat the Angels this year.

I agree. I stii see hope for the Rangers, as they have THE BEST offense in baseball. But the Angels have, though not as strong as an offense (Noone Does compared to the Rangers) they have an equally good defense. It takes two to Tango. The Angels have that "thing" this year.

The Angels are on a tear this year. I just hope they don't win the World Series, so Baltimore has a better shot at landing Teixeira in the offseason.

And what the fuck is up with the Tampa Bay? Last to First. I still want to know how the hell that happened.

And "the best" offense is baseball just got shut out by the O's

Looks like the O's finally got their revenge for the Rangers beating them 30-3.

    Records?
The most runs scored in 1 game in 110 years (It was the ninth time a major league team scored 30 runs, the first since the Chicago Colts set the major league mark in a 36-7 rout of Louisville in a National League game on June 28, 1897.)
Texas set an AL record for runs in a doubleheader, surpassing the 36 scored by Detroit in 1937. (This was a double-header. The Rangers scored 9 more in the second game.)
The Rangers set a team record for runs scored in a doubleheader — before the second game even started.
Jarrod Saltalamacchia and Ramon Vazquez, the bottom two batters in Texas’ lineup, each homered twice and finished with seven RBIs. The last time two teammates had as many as seven RBIs in a game was 1962, when Elston Howard had eight and Mickey Mantle added seven for the New York Yankees against the Kansas City Athletics.
Texas got 10 hits — matching a club record for one inning — in the sixth and went up 14-3.
Texas’ 30 RBIs set a major league record. The Rangers had 57 at-bats, tying the AL mark for a nine-inning game set by Milwaukee in its 1992 rout of Toronto.

    I couldn't resist.

Well tampa going from last to first is the exact same thing Detroit did, i still dont think the rays have enough good pitching to get far in the playoffs. Its all about pitching. I hate to say it because im not fond of them but the angels seem like a clear contender. The Cubs have some playoff pitching shutdown power with big Zambrano, Dempster, and Newly acquired rich harden. Ted lilly can be clutch at times.

I dont see boston repeating simply because their offense is not the same, and neither is their pitching. Also the fact that the angels owned them badly shows you allot, a team which previously crushed the angels at each meeting.

The brewers can also come back and be this years rockies. I wouldnt want to be the team facing Sabathia and Sheets back to back. IF the dodgers trump over the diamondbacks for the division they can be dominant in the playoffs with their pitching, the biggest challenge for them will be actually getting to the post season.

Though I can laugh about that too.

I'm with the Dr. on this one, even though I'd like to see the Dodger Dogs in a World Series.

I've always hated the Cubs. Hate their uniforms, the field. Maybe I just hate Chicago--I do plan on going there one day if only for the pizza(s).

I second all of that. I have been to many good concerts in Chicago, but I hate going there. And the Cubs.
At least the Pearl Room is in a suburb far from downtown.

True on all accounts, except for the Cubs part, in which case, I'm indifferent about.

    How bout them fucking cubs?

Clinching the Central, then the world series, then shortly after, the Apocalypse will begin. We've been waiting almost 100 years for this.
