I may have an amazingly rare guitar

First things first, here are 4 pictures i took of my guitar
    http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...wincup/1-1.jpg
    http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...wincup/2-1.jpg
    http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...wincup/3-1.jpg
    http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...wincup/4-1.jpg

i wanted to sell this guitar so i could get a Les Paul Baritone, i took it into the shop, and because its scratched to hell, they offered me £30, so i didnt want that, i took it to another shop to see if they knew what kind of guitar it was (all i could work out was a Washburn), so me and the guy in the shop looked to try and find what it was, nothing came up. i went home, did some looking on the internet, found out it was made in 1987 (a year before i was born) so i put into google, washburn prs 1987, and found this website
    http://www.tubefreak.com/rs10v.htm
i saw the picture in the corner and throught "hey that looks exactly liek my guitar" i had a look at the page, and there was one bit which really stood out too me

"Here is some info I found on the web:

    Washburn RS-10V Comments: Reply
Hi, I noticed that you were looking for some info on the Washburn RS10-v. Well, I do know that this model of guitar was only made for one year, 1987, and was not mass produced. The guitar is USA made and is rare as only about 1100 were produced. They sold for nearly $1,500 in 1987, and in '87 that was almost enough to get a new car!! The body is made of Mahogany as well as the neck."

if anyone knows anything about guitars and can confirm if this is my guitar or not, that would be amazing

the only stipulation about that guitar being the classic limited release model, is that it said the guitars were limited in the usa. are you sure yours was made in the us? becuase it could be a foreign version, and not the original. but i dont have a clue, thats just something i thought of.

It's the same model, from what I can tell. The pic on the website is a tad small, but it appears to be the same.

There is an email address on that page that says to email it for more info. Email a picture to him to confirm it, but I'm 90% sure you've got your hands on a proper version. The "Washburn" label marks it as being an original, though it may just be a later spin off.

See if you can find an archive of all the serial numbers on that model, and see if your's fits into it. Here is what made me smile:

Bare in mind that EVERY SINGLE ONE of these guitars were HAND MADE!!!

yeah that handmade bit got me, as well as the fact it cost as much as a car and only 1100 were made

thread necro......what ever happened with this guitar anyway. was it a knock off or the real deal
It's just like the story of the grasshopper and the octopus. All year long the grasshopper kept burying acorns for winter while the octopus mooched off his girlfriend and watched TV. But then the winter came and the grasshopper died and the octopus ate all his acorns and also he got a racecar. Is any of this getting through to you?

goes out of tune a fair bit and i think some parts of moved and been un-alined (if thats a word) so it can sound a bit weird, but it feels nice and doesnt sound too bad. i'd be able to give you a more certain answer but its still in england. it is my main guitar though. oh, also its heavy in terms of weight

Playing a guitar that goes out of tune quick is annoying. But since it's heavy it probably has really good sustain.

    aligned.

If it's made in the USA, it's probably a piece of shit.
Isn't that how the world sees America now?
    A piece of shit?

So why worry about American made products.
They are made by war mongers and greedy pigs.

    ROFL!!!
I thought that would get you back in here.

You said you HEARD that it wasn't made in 1987.
    Have you got actual proof?
Have you run the serial number?

I'm really curious as to the goldmine sitting in your lap.

(And it may shock you, but I actually play guitar. Not like you guys though. My forte is coming up with a rhythm and lyrics. I would prefer someone else to play while I sing, or just let someone else do the song all together. But since it is never gonna happen, I'm stuck coming up with rhythms for my lyrics)

Anyways, now that you are here, have you tried running the serial number?
