Might be handy to have a list of those words

I was gonna say, if curse words are going to be censored...if Wrestling is a deal breaker for herman, not being able to say fuck uncensored is one for me, lol

I thought that was just the game threads half the time? lol. Doesn't crash and one or two other people on here like wrestling?

Also who wants to take bets on how long it takes dane to get drunk and make new band threads totally ignoring all the rules? haha

so...I just happen to find out this will close. Looking at MT it doesn't convince me of migrating.
    Damn....
What are the costs of keeping this one up ? it isn't that big on data or server resources ? is it a ridiculous expensive domain name ?

How are backups done ? I can be of any use when it comes to hosting some sort of backup site. Plenty of space at a fairly reliable host.
Setting up another domain is of almost no cost for me, so that is easy done. and migrating data is just a matter of hard work and a lot of coffee.

Who is making backups? and testing them ?

    Bloody questions.

Depending on the costs.... But spending some Euro for a simple forumsite is not a real problem...

I will not consider myself an expert, but I happen to know some things about computerz and the interwebz.

Although some knowledge is somewhat rusty since I haven't been in IT for some time now...

Compared to me you're an expert. I have zero knowledge of that stuff.

So. Who can help us out. Who need I to contact? What are the actual costs? I do like this site in its simplicity, and as it being a nice museum of reviews it should not be gone.

Maybe next week I have some time to browse through the options.

My understanding is the cost is well over $500 bucks. Cant remember if its monthly or yearly though. Either way, my station needed a forum of its own so thats where i will be going forward. Anyone who wants to participate is welcome and there is no cost to run it. Good luck to those that want to move on elsewhere. lol

    500? Wtf?

I'm currently running three sites, one making some significant traffic, and total costs is less then 100€ p/y.
And I have reason to believe uptime and traffic is much more than this current host. And available data on disk is ATM 30GB... Should be enough to host a Little but precious site like Mruforums.com....

Noobs, do you know who to contact ATM? I can always recommend this site at way back. Easiest way to never lose data.

Enraged/Chris is the owner but i do not have his email address or anything like that. Maybe Crash or one of the mods can direct you to a way to get in touch with him. Im not sure why the cost is the amount it is, some of what was explained to me by Crash was that Chris paid for a lot of the bells/whistles for the site and maybe he paid more to try and generate traffic to it.

Yeah, for whatever reason MRU costs 500 a year to operate without ads, spam, etc. I'm not sure anything can be done about that.
